
Mark G. Mortenson
General Counsel
Mark Mortenson is responsible for the company’s intellectual property strategy and development, as well as technology development and technology transfer. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Mortenson, who is a scientist, an engineer and an intellectual property expert, held a variety of positions in industry and private practice. He worked extensively with patent application preparation, prosecution and litigation both in the U.S. and abroad. Mr. Mortenson also directed technology transfer and technology commercialization of emerging technologies, as president and executive vice president and COO of various high-tech companies including Lanxide Corporation.
Throughout his career, he has established approximately 5,500 patents and patent applications in the United States and 44 countries around the world.
He is a member of the following organizations: the American Association for the Advancement of Science; the American Ceramic Society; the American Chemical Society; the American Intellectual Property Law Association; the American Bar Association; Keramos; and the Licensing Executive Society.
Mr. Mortenson earned his J.D. degree at George Washington University and his M.S. degree in materials science at Pennsylvania State University. He earned bachelor's degrees in both physics and ceramic engineering at Alfred University, where he graduated cum laude in both fields.
